Who Am I
Colorado native whose been living in San Francisco for the past three years now. Similar to Colorado, I love how accessible the Bay Area is. Laying on the beach in Monterey; drinking all the wine you can in Napa Valley; spending a weekend up in Tahoe skiing; it’s all just a short car ride away. My personal favorite is finding cool new hiking trails in the various state parks though.
When I’m not out exploring outside of the city—which is more often now that I don’t have a car—I’m typically out playing a sport of some kind or trying my hand at a new hobby. I’ve dabbled in everything from glass-blowing to singing to gardening. Right now I’m trying to learn piano, as well as brush up on the Spanish I haven’t touched since high school.
How I Got Here
Honestly, I was kind of a wandering soul in college. I had originally started with the intent to get my degree in Business-Marketing, but quickly found myself distracted by more creative pursuits. By the end of it I wound up with a Psychology degree, because I always found the psychological side of Marketing to be the most interesting. I also took a bunch of Film and Creative Writing classes, as well as ended up with a Biology minor. While all the other Marketing kids were interning with brands, I was in a lab studying the evolution of Zebrafish.
That made the start of my career in Marketing admittedly difficult. I can tell you that knowing how to sequence DNA doesn’t land you a job doing creative strategy for an ad agency. Given that, I started my career in Digital Marketing working at a small SEO boutique. It was a humble start, but it gave me a lot of perspective, and ultimately set me upon the path that led to where I am now. A path that allowed me to not only learn everything about Digital Marketing, but also the broader media landscape, and how the largest global brands are utilizing it to its utmost potential.
These days I’m focused more on the Brand and Creative Strategy side of things, which is where I’ve always wanted to be, but my rich background in Operations and Media Strategy have proven pivotal in distinguishing myself from others in my field.
